How the team works
MCPU is deliberately structured so there is no handoff between sales and technical. A formulation request goes straight to a chemist who owns it from first sample through plant trial and commercial supply.
- Formulation chemistry — polyol design, reactive modifiers, FR packages, catalyst systems
- Analytical and testing — reactivity profiles, thermal and mechanical characterization, bio-content verification
- Process and scale-up — pilot batching, toll blending, plant trial support
- Regulatory and documentation — data sheets, certification packages, customer submissions
Working with us
Most projects start with a short technical conversation: the incoming spec, the failure mode, the constraints you cannot move. From there we scope bench work and agree what a successful sample has to prove before it goes near your line.
The team
Tom Garrett leads MCPU as CEO and Research Director. He holds a B.S. with honors from Stanford University and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, both in chemistry, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg before joining MCPU. He is the author of more than 50 papers and patents and a graduate of Harvard Business School.
Saeed Fosshat holds a Ph.D. in chemistry with a focus on inorganic and organometallic chemistry, catalysis and photochemistry. Since joining MCPU he has worked on the synthesis and formulation of fire-retardant additives for polyurethane formulations.
Enoch Acquah leads development of bio-based polyurethane additives for foam, adhesive and coating applications, replacing fossil-derived polyols and halogenated flame retardants with lignin and soy-based solutions suitable for commercial production. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University, where his research focused on lignin valorization and polyol synthesis.
