Applications

One chemistry group, six very different processing worlds.

A boardstock line, a spray rig, a slabstock bun, a potting cell and an outdoor track ask completely different things of the same polyurethane toolkit. MCPU formulates against the process and the spec in front of us — not against a catalog page.

Six polyurethane applications: PIR boardstock panel, spray foam insulation, rubber-crumb athletic surfacing, potted electronics, roller-applied coating and layered flexible foams under compression

Depth across applications is what lets us move a fix from one world to another: the hydrophobic network that keeps water out of a potted assembly is the same thinking that protects an aged R-value, and the Tg control that makes a memory foam feel right is the same lever that tunes a vibration-damping pad. Pick the application closest to your process below.

PIR & Rigid Foam

Boardstock, sandwich panel and appliance foam where flame spread, k-factor and dimensional stability are all graded at once.

  • — ASTM E84 Class A / UL 723 flame spread and smoke-developed performance
  • — Long-term thermal resistance stability (LTTR) at the aged interval
  • — Fine, closed-cell structure for low k-factor at target density

Spray Polyurethane Foam

Open- and closed-cell SPF where cure profile, reoccupancy odor, yield and field-applied fire performance all have to hold on-site.

  • — Predictable cure across cold and humid substrate conditions
  • — Low residual amine odor and reduced VOC at reoccupancy
  • — Consistent yield and adhesion pass to pass

Flexible & Viscoelastic Foams

Slabstock, molded and memory foam where feel, resilience, compression set and Tg placement decide whether the part is right.

  • — Controlled Tg for consistent feel across the use-temperature range
  • — Compression set and fatigue durability over service life
  • — Resilience and recovery time matched to the product concept

CASE

Coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers — where pot life, adhesion, weathering and toughness are decided on the same molecule.

  • — Adhesion to the actual substrate, including low-energy and mixed substrates
  • — Weathering, hydrolysis and UV stability for exterior exposure
  • — Tear strength, elongation and abrasion resistance

Electronics & Potting

Encapsulation and potting where exotherm, shrink, dielectric behavior and cured-part stress determine whether the assembly survives.

  • — Low peak exotherm at production pour volumes
  • — Minimal cure shrinkage and low stress on components
  • — Dielectric performance and insulation resistance

Binders & Flooring

Rubber-crumb binders and poured surfacing where UV stability, impact attenuation and outdoor durability are the whole product.

  • — UV stability without ambering or surface chalking
  • — Impact attenuation for ADA-compliant playground safety surfacing
  • — Wet and freeze-thaw durability with reliable crumb adhesion

Tell us the performance target in non-confidential terms. If it is a fit we put an NDA in place, review your existing formulation and specification, then move to bench development, testing, customer trial and scale-up.
